Trucking Along
Holy hell what a busy week. I know I probably put these out too often but I spend a LOT of time on the game and I have a lot to say about it. Lets see, since my last devlog we have the following (notable) changes:
STEAM PAGE: my steam page is under review as we speak, and man do they have a lot of requirements. that application took me HOURS. But the page will be up soon enough so if you're interested please make sure to wishlist it!
ALPHA MOBS: big, recolored boss mobs with unique attack patterns, found in caves (where all the good stuff is, coincidentally)
ART STYLE REVAMP: So I've come to the conclusion that pure pixel art is not the path forward for this game. I think it looks MUCH better with my new hybrid pixel art/textured look. adds a ton of depth and soul to the sprites. I'm really excited about it, though I have many assets to convert.
START MENU: changed the look again. I just cant help but mess with UI stuff ALL THE TIME. I love it. Hope you do too
COPPER WIRING: this is a bit later game. Its in the trailer but everything else about it is a secret for now
ATTACK DOWN FIX: for those of you who played the demo, you might have noticed attacking downward often missed for no good reason. I've FINALLY been able to track it down and fix it. usually not the kind of thing I'd mention here, but it's been on my list so long I'm excited about it.
MAP UPDATES: the map no longer looks like shit. In fact, it looks great. the arrows are fixed, rotated correctly, not cluttering the place up. The map itself is no longer pixel blocks. its good stuff
FEEBLE: ondeath penalty applied to add some weight to death rather than just a free teleport back to base
MOB RAIDS: We're all set up now to have mob raids that scale with colony size, and other secret metrics, so you'd better keep your colonists armed!
That's about it for now. More to come on the horizon, including a suped up demo. I did a few playtests of the one I have up and I'll say it's not as polished as I'd like. Working to put together another that's more up to my standards. I'll reveal in a few days. in the meantime check out the trailer I threw together if you havent seen it already:
